fleecing stations

Permanent Interactive Installation
Papa Stour Island, UK.
Established 2013

Fleecing Stations are locations in which sheep can have access to scratch themselves. Sheep regularly do this activity, especially when fleece is getting long.

Existing Stations on Papa Stour were identified and amended within the two days prior to shearing 2013, new Stations were installed post-shearing, and all Stations will be revisited 2 days prior to shearing each year to collect the wool that has been gathered at each Station during the year long fleece growth season.
